I have a food allergy, can I check the ingredients of any of the items you serve?

We have a fantastic ‘Food & Menu Specifications’ book that you can request to look at in the restaurant, which contains all the ingredients for any of our products.

Where do Nando’s chicken’s come from?

* The Daily Mail has written about Nando's and our chicken recently, here's our response

As a chicken restaurant group, we are committed to very high standards for our chickens. The quality of our core product is of the utmost importance to us and we believe that quality product and clear consciences can only be achieved if the welfare and health of the chickens are a priority for our business.

Nando’s uses barn-reared chickens. All our whole chickens, chicken breast fillets, wings, butterfly breasts and livers are sourced from the UK and supplied to us fresh. Our whole chickens and chicken products are supplied to us by Cargill, Faccenda and Moy Park. In both the Republic and Northern Ireland, Moy Park distribute and supply our product. Our Halal chickens are from Freemans of Newent. All Nando’s suppliers adhere to an equivalent Red Tractor Farm Assured Standard - IKB (Integrated Chain Control).

The welfare of the chickens we use is of genuine importance to us and we know that our suppliers work to ensure that the chickens don’t suffer. The chickens are housed in deep littered, well-ventilated barns and they have constant access to food and water. They are fed feed and are free from antibiotic growth promoters. We can assure you of this because all producers comply with the Red Tractor farm assured standards.

Is there a difference between Nando’s Peri-Peri Sauces sold in the restaurant and the supermarkets?

Yes, you may notice a slight difference in the taste or flavour. The reason for this is because they are manufactured in a different place to our restaurant sauces.

The sauces used in the restaurants are made in the UK and the sauces sold in supermarkets are made in South Africa and in a different UK factory. The recipes are the same but of course ingredients will vary depending on the source.

Is your chicken Free Range?

* The Daily Mail has written about Nando's and our chicken recently, here's our response

Nando’s uses barn-reared chickens. Our whole chickens are sourced from the UK and supplied to us fresh by Faccenda (for use in the UK), Moy Park (for use in Ireland) and Freemans of Newent, who supply our halal chickens.

We do not purchase battery reared chickens or any manufactured chicken product.

We insist on the highest standards of hygiene and quality from our suppliers, who comply with Red Tractor farm standards. Our barn-reared chickens are housed in deep littered, well-ventilated barns and have constant access to food and water.

As part of a continuous process of reviewing all aspects of our supply to make certain our products are properly and ethically sourced. We are also actively looking at RSPCA Freedom Foods and Free Range chicken. Nando’s prides itself in offering great tasting food at great value. Chicken welfare is of utmost importance however we also need to consider the price our customers are willing to pay.

How is Nando's chicken cooked?

Our chickens are marinated for at least 24 hours before being cooked. They are cooked in a special oven for an average cycle of 30 minutes, reaching a temperature of at least 75C, then kept in a warming drawer at a temperature of 63C. Each chicken is then flame-grilled to order.

Is there anything on your Menu suitable for Vegans?

Please be aware that full ingredient listings are available in all of our restaurants just ask the duty manager to see the Food and Menu Specification Folder.

We’d recommend our Veggie Pitta, but you need to specify “no mayonnaise” as mayo is a standard ingredient containing egg. You can have any baste as these are free of meat, egg and dairy products.

Please note that Nando’s are not vegetarian restaurants, however we do take specific steps to segregate our non-meat products from our meat products as follows:

  • A segregated area of the grill is defined for the exclusive cooking of non-meat products
  • Separate utensils are always used with non-meat products
  • Separate bottles of the Nando’s bastes are used exclusively for basting the non-meat products

Halal
Does Nando’s serve Halal Chicken?

For everything you need to know about our Halal Chicken please click here.

We serve Halal chicken in restaurants where local demand for that particular product is high, combined with various other business factors. We welcome everyone into our restaurants, regardless of their beliefs. Because welfare is such a big priority for us, all of our chickens are pre-stunned as part of the preparation process.

Approximately one fifth of our restaurants are clearly labelled as serving Halal chicken. Nando's suppliers adhere to the strictest standards set down by the British Retail Consortium and all our suppliers are independently audited to ensure these standards are met.

What do I need to bring with me when I come to collect my order?

Bring yourself, your name and the last four digits of your mobile phone number (or the person’s whose account it was ordered from). That’s it.  If you paid online, you will also need to bring your payment card along with you to confirm your order.

Not the answer you were looking for? >
I placed an order online/mobile but didn’t receive a confirmation email, so have you got my order?

If you reached the confirmation screen after placing your order and paying for it, then it’s likely that the confirmation email just didn’t reach you, so check your junk folder and make sure your email is working ok.  If you didn’t get to the confirmation screen and didn’t get an email it’s likely something went wrong and your order hasn’t gone through.

Please try again and get in touch with us here if you continue to have problems placing an order online. Feel free to give the restaurant a call too if you’re desperate to place your order as we can always take it over the phone.

Not the answer you were looking for? >
What do I do if something goes wrong whilst I’m creating my order?

This is a trial and things go wrong every now and then, whilst we test the system – sorry! Should your screen freeze or something crashes, then please start again, check your order and continue adding to it until everything is in there ready for checkout. Oh and please let us know what happened, so we can make sure we fix any bugs that keep coming up and make it better for everyone else.

Not the answer you were looking for? >
Why can’t I choose my preferred time to collect my order?

To make sure we can get everyone’s orders ready on time, there’s a limited number of slots available for any given time period. Not the answer you were looking for? >
Can I change or add items to my order once I’ve placed my order online/mobile?

Sorry, this isn’t possible – it’s how the system works. Once you’ve placed your order we’ll take payment for that exact order and we can’t go back and change anything. If you’ve forgotten something or want to change part of your order then please speak to the Takeaway Host in the restaurant when you collect – there may be a chance we can help but it’s likely you’ll have to queue.

Takeaway
Do you offer takeaway from Nando’s?

Prefer to get your PERi-PERi in front of your desk or while you’re lying in bed? Well good news for you, Nando's do offer takeaway. You can pop in; order your food and wait while it is freshly cooked and prepared.  If you fancy a pot or two of extra sauce (or some takeaway cutlery if you don’t want your hands to get too grubby), why not ask one of our friendly team members who will be more than happy to help.  You can also telephone your order through and pick it up at your favoured time. For the contact details of your nearest Nando's, please click here.  Please note that due to our licensing, alcohol cannot be taken away from the premises.

Please note that due to local council restrictions we cannot currently offer take away service from our London – Great Portland Street restaurant.

How much VAT do you charge?

We are currently charging VAT at 20%.

You may notice on your receipt that we detail the amount of VAT you are paying. This included within the prices we display on our menu and doesn’t mean you are paying any extra. It’s just our way of detailing to you how much VAT you are paying.
